It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Hill Country Christian School of Austin Knights had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 68-58 victory over Logos Prep Academy. Winning may never get old, but Hill Country Christian School of Austin sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Ethan Howard was a one-man wrecking crew for Hill Country Christian School of Austin as he rushed for 238 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 171 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Curry, who gained 67 total yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Logos Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Brayden Tibbetts, who threw for 527 yards and eight touchdowns. Tibbetts has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Caleb Sedgwick, who picked up 167 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Hill Country Christian School of Austin pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their third straight at home. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Prince of Peace and 2-9 Logos Prep Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.3% over those games). As for Logos Prep Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Hill Country Christian School of Austin will face off against Veritas Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Veritas Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three games. Logos Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
