It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Beckville had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They came out on top against the Martins Mill Mustangs by a score of 6-2. The victory was nothing new for the Bearcats as they're now sitting on six straight.
Wesdon Harris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Reed Chapman and Braxton Allred did most of the damage at the plate: Chapman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Allred went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Allred has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brody Booth, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Beckville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Beckville's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Martins Mill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
