First Baptist extended the longest winning streak in Lowcountry-Piedmont (8 Man) this week by beating Fountain Inn Christian, 72-28. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Hurricanes.
Coastal HomeSchool took down Abundant Life Academy 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Spencer Houston ran for 115 yards and caught one passes for four yards in the win.
First Baptist's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Trent Keisler threw for 135 and four touchdowns and Bradford Allen had 114 yards receiving. On the ground Alex Frazier chipped in 141 yards. Matthew Crane helped First Baptist's passing attack out by catching one ball for 21 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Gunnar Gibson of the Hurricanes is the league leader in passing yards this season with 934. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, Will McCombs' team's Frazier has rushed for 1534 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Allen. The First Baptist star has 24 catches for 601 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Coastal HomeSchool and the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes enters the game ranked sixth in the state, while First Baptist ranks fifth.
There should be lots of points scored when Coastal HomeSchool and the Hurricanes face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Hurricanes comes in having scored 364 this season, while First Baptist has scored 502. Coastal HomeSchool scored 48 points last week as it defeated Abundant Life Academy.
