The Stillwater Christian Cougars can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They rang in the new year with a 69-62 win over Lincoln County. Stillwater Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lincoln County still got an impressive performance from Haidyn Guckenberg, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Guckenberg scored 15 or more points. Taylor Truman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Stillwater Christian's win bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Lincoln County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Stillwater Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Idaho Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. As for Lincoln County, they will head out on the road to face off against Loyola-Sacred Heart at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Loyola-Sacred Heart presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lincoln County in Montana (Loyola-Sacred Heart is ranked 17th, while Lincoln County is ranked 83rd).
