Basketball Recap: South Point Drops Highest Score of Season Against Forestview

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Point). They breezed by the Forestview Jaguars to the tune of 80-39 on Friday. The Red Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 23 points or more this season.

Amya Graham continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 15 boards. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. Micah Brown also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Despite the defeat, Forestview saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sa'Ryah McCorkle dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. McCorkle is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Delainah Springs was another key player, putting up four points.

South Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Forestview, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Point will face off against Stuart W. Cramer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Stuart W. Cramer has won 11 straight at home, while South Point won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Forestview, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Forestview Jaguars take on the North Gaston Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forestview is facing North Gaston at the right time seeing as North Gaston is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
