After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bamberg-Ehrhardt, the Calhoun County Saints were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 46-45 victory over Williston-Elko. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Calhoun County also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Calhoun County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cassidy Pough, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Pough is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jatoria McFadden, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Calhoun County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Williston-Elko, they bumped their record down to 3-4 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Calhoun County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Ridge Spring-Monetta at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Williston-Elko, they will head out on the road to square off against Wagener-Salley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Wagener-Salley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
