Softball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Horizon's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Horizon unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 19-13 to the Pinnacle Pioneers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (ten), the Huskies still had to take the loss.

Lexi Nolen led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Kaia Stephens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Nolen wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Horizon lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.

Horizon's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Pinnacle, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon will head out to square off against Notre Dame Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Notre Dame Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Horizon's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pinnacle, they are taking a road trip to take on Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
