On Thursday, Episcopal was able to grind out a solid victory over Midlothian Heritage, taking the game 42-34. Given Episcopal's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Midlothian Heritage is ranked 178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midlothian Heritage's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Grace Sweeney, who scored nine points, and Ava Batty who scored nine points. Sweeney scored a full 26.5% of Midlothian Heritage's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ivy Preusser, who scored eight points.
Episcopal has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Midlothian Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
