Trenton is 9-1 against Roosevelt since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Bears at 4:30 p.m. Trenton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Trenton fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Woodhaven on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-1. The Trojans' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Joel Mator was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 8.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Trenton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Crook, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base. Niko Beaudrie also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt suffered their closest defeat since May 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Carlson by a score of 7-5. Like the Trojans, the Bears also had to let a streak go: they had won three straight, but that streak is no more.
Connor Bedo was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Jack Halberstadt was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Roosevelt's record is now 5-9. As for Trenton, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 9-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trenton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Trenton's way against Roosevelt in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Trenton made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
