On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Granada's defensive line and their five sacks. Leading the way was Syjier Freeman-Swindell with three.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Wells faced Eads in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Tigers breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 60-18. Considering the Tigers have won five matchups by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Cheyenne Wells didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Camden Rand and Trey Scheler. Scheler has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.
Granada's record now sits at 5-2. As for Cheyenne Wells, their record is now 5-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Granada has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 215.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Cheyenne Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging 248.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Granada was taken down by Cheyenne Wells 75-39 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
