Baseball Recap: LaBelle Find Success

LaBelle proved they can win big last Monday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Riverdale Raiders. For the Cowboys/Cowgirls, this counts as revenge for the 8-7 victory the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Kaleb Mclymont looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because LaBelle is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Lonnie Campos and Beau Collier did most of the damage at the plate: Campos scored a run while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while Collier went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance also gave Campos a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Elijah Williams, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple.

LaBelle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

LaBelle pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Riverdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaBelle will host Mariner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. LaBelle's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Mariner's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Riverdale, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Cypress Lake at 7:00 p.m. Riverdale is facing Cypress Lake at the right time seeing as Cypress Lake is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
