The Cahokia Comanches's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Mt. Vernon, falling 97-31. Cahokia has struggled against Mt. Vernon recently, as their match on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Mt. Vernon was led to victory by Tiara Johnson and Arwyn Wilkie. Johnson scored 20 points along with three steals, while Wilkie scored 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Wilkie scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Melaina Zedalis, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Cahokia has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, they pushed their record up to 21-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Cahokia will head out on the road to square off against Belleville West at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Althoff Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Althoff Catholic is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
