Basketball Recap: Berean Baptist Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Berean Baptist Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots by a score of 70-67. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-59 back in December of 2024.

Jossiah Johnson and Justin Caldwell certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Johnson posted 28 points, while Caldwell earned 19 points. Those 28 points gave Johnson a new career-high.

Karsten Swinney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Freedom Christian Academy, dropping a triple-double on 19 points, ten assists, and 11 steals. Swinney is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last 16 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryce West, who put up 20 points.

Berean Baptist Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-10. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Berean Baptist Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-64 win against Northwood Temple Academy on the 29th. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 93-34 victory against The O'Neal School on the 28th.
