It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Carver Crusaders had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 44-0 victory over Hoosac Valley. The win was just business as usual for Carver, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Carver can attribute much of their success to Jameson Helms, who rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Tyler Lennox was another key contributor, throwing for 180 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Carver's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 7-3 KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate and 7-3 Tri-County RVT (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64.7% over those games). As for Hoosac Valley, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-1.
Carver has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Middleborough at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Middleborough is ranked 70th, while Carver is ranked 59th). Hoosac Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
