The Pinecrest Academy Paladins and the Strong Rock Christian Patriots will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pinecrest Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Strong Rock Christian is ranked 91st).
On Saturday, Pinecrest Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to Cornerstone Prep Academy. Pinecrest Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Joe Frain put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. He scored a full 36.5% of Pinecrest Academy's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Johnny Lynch, who scored ten points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Strong Rock Christian put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 53-36 win over Mount de Sales Academy.
Pinecrest Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Strong Rock Christian, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Pinecrest Academy came up short against Strong Rock Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 55-51. Can Pinecrest Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
