The Steele Comets will face off against the Firelands Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Steele is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Steele was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Shady Spring on Thursday. The Comets put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Comets this season.

Karina Shuster made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Briana Blankenship was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Allie Jackson was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Steele always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shady Spring only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Firelands was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Mapleton, falling 16-5.
Sarah Blankenship was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Coggins, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Steele is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Firelands, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Saturday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Steele hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Firelands struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
