Baseball Recap: West Campus Comes Up Short

If West Campus was feeling good fresh off their 10-0 takedown of Valley last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Campus Warriors fell just short of the Mesa Verde Mavericks by a score of 12-11 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (ten), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Sam Anderson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for West Campus: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Maxton Creeger was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

West Campus' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Mesa Verde, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

The future could be bright for both West Campus and Mesa Verde: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. West Campus will look to extend Natomas' three-game losing streak when they meet at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mesa Verde will try to hand Lindhurst their fifth-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
