The Dover Dragons pushed their score all the way to 63 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Pine Plains. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (56), Dover still had to take the loss.
Dover's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Justin Cardwell, who scored 21 points, and Caden Green who scored 17 points. Cardwell is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Brinson, who scored six points.
Dover has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Pine Plains, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
Dover's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mount Academy at 5:45 p.m. on February 2nd. The timing is sure in Mount Academy's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Dover has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Pine Plains, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Highland at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Highland is coming into the contest with four straight wins on the road, so Pine Plains is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
