The Linsly School Cadets will take on the Shadyside Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While The Linsly School's victory against Brooke wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cadets had just enough and edged out the Bruins 12-10. The win was nothing new for the Cadets as they're now sitting on three straight.
The team relied heavily on Dominic Fato, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyga Goto, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
The Linsly School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooke only posted an OBP of .351.
Meanwhile, Shadyside got themselves on the board against Shenandoah on Monday, but Shenandoah never followed suit. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Zeps. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since April 17, 2024.
The result came thanks to Luke Crozier's shutout, as he gave up just five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Shadyside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damian Russell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
The Linsly School's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Shadyside, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Shadyside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: The Linsly School hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. It's a different story for Shadyside, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain The Linsly School's hitters?
The Linsly School couldn't quite get it done against Shadyside when the teams last played back in April of 2022 as they fell 7-4. Will the Cadets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
