The Borden County Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Lorenzo Hornets at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Borden County suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. Their tough 79-54 loss to Cornerstone Christian might stick with them for a while.
Meanwhile, Lorenzo was beaten by Ropes 77-41 on January 9th. While losing is never fun, Lorenzo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1199th, while Ropes is ranked 426th).
Borden County's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4. As for Lorenzo, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Borden County strolled past Lorenzo when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 58-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Borden County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
