The Lennard Longhorns suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 64-22 defeat at the hands of Bloomingdale. Lennard has not had much luck with Bloomingdale recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Lennard still got an impressive performance from Kyah Vance, who scored 11 points. That was a full 50% of Lennard's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bloomingdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noelle Mengel led the charge by scoring 21 points along with three steals. Mengel has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times she's played. Jatia Markes was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Lennard's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.4 points per game. As for Bloomingdale, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lennard will take on Tampa Bay Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Tampa Bay Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for Bloomingdale, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Plant at 6:30 p.m. Plant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Bloomingdale is ranked 30th).
