Rider is on a five-game streak of home losses, Azle an 11-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Rider Raiders will take on the Azle Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Rider suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Brewer, falling 60-27. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Rider has scored all season.
Caiden Reed put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 11 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 40.7% of Rider's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Azle, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-39 loss to Brewer last Friday. While losing is never fun, Azle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1145th, while Brewer is ranked 65th).
Rider has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Azle, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.
Rider strolled past Azle in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 55-40. Will Rider repeat their success, or does Azle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
