The Buckeye Hawks entered their tilt with the Estrella Foothills Wolves with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Buckeye skirted past Estrella Foothills 62-60. With that victory, Buckeye brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Buckeye can attribute much of their success to Kiria Avila escarcega, who scored 27 points along with seven assists. That's the first time this season that Avila escarcega scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Ramirez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Buckeye is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Estrella Foothills, their loss dropped their record down to 18-3.
Buckeye will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Copper Canyon at 7:00 p.m. Copper Canyon has insisted on making their lastfive contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-3 during that stretch of close contests. As for Estrella Foothills, they will head out on the road to take on Goldwater at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Goldwater will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Estrella Foothills is ranked 26th).
