The Chester County Eagles will take on the Crockett County Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Chester County and Adamsville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Eagles fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 11-10. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by just one run.
Georganna Pickens made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Addison Newland was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Crockett County put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Covington get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Fans of the Cavaliers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Not much got past Anna Stallings, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Covington off the board. Stallings has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Crockett County let Kiyra Liggins and Welsey Thornton run wild. Liggins went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Thornton went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. With that strong performance, Thornton is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Madison Stitts, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Crockett County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10 runs thus far. As for Chester County, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chester County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like Crockett County struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chester County might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Crockett County in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
