The North Charleston Cougars's 11-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 45-44 photo finish over Battery Creek. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory North Charleston has managed all season.
Leading North Charleston to victory were Taja Porcher and Talasia King. Porcher scored 16 points, while King scored 25 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Porcher has scored at least 25% of North Charleston's points.
North Charleston's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-9. As for Battery Creek, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Charleston's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hanahan at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th. Hopefully Hanahan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Battery Creek, they will head out on the road to face off against Beaufort at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Beaufort comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
