Even though the Lafayette Christian Cougars have not done well against the Central Christian Crusaders recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lafayette Christian managed a 49-44 win over Central Christian. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lafayette Christian.
Carmen Bridges was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 18 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marta Oria, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Lafayette Christian is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Central Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette Christian will challenge Flint River Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flint River Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Central Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Harvester Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th.
