The Plainfield Central Wildcats will take on the Plainfield East Bengals at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Plainfield Central had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Romeoville on Thursday. The Wildcats never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Plainfield Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are undefeated (2-0) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainfield East). Everything went their way against Joliet Central on Thursday as they made off with a 32-0 win. With that victory, the Bengals brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
Maya Patel looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaleigh Cawthon, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashley Plzak, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Plainfield East's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Plainfield Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-6-1.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Plainfield Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Plainfield East struggles in that department as they've averaged .312. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plainfield Central took their victory against Plainfield East in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bengals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
