The South Pike Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 43-34 victory over Jefferson County. Given South Pike's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Jefferson County is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Alaysha Williams, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Makayla Robertson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
South Pike is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Jefferson County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Franklin County the next time they take the court. South Pike will head out to face Franklin County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Jefferson County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
