The Middleton Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sumner Stingrays at 7:03 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Friday, Middleton was fully in charge, breezing past King 36-7 at home.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Middleton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryan Hunter, who rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Hunter was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Xavier Mccullough, who rushed for 70 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
Another reason for the win was Middleton's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 5.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Keyonte Artis and Joseph Doston who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, Sumner can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 49-8 victory over Newsome. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-0.
Among those leading the charge was Greg Smith III, who threw for 185 yards and five touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Brown, who picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Middleton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Sumner, their win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
Middleton came up short against Sumner when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 27-14. Will Middleton have more luck at home instead of on the road?
