The Miami Country Day Spartans are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Avant Garde Academy Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Miami Country Day knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully the Sharks like a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Miami Country Day beat the Rams 61-48. Given Miami Country Day's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Rams are ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Herbert Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 18 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Miguel Orbe, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Avant Garde Academy lost to the Barracuda on the road by a decisive 60-45 margin on Thursday. Avant Garde Academy has not had much luck with the Barracuda recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Miami Country Day has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Avant Garde Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Everything came up roses for Miami Country Day against the Sharks in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 122-38 victory. Will Miami Country Day repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
