Softball Recap: Altha Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sneads

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Altha). Everything went their way against the Sneads Pirates on Friday as they made off with a 20-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tarrin McCrone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Altha let Hope Tanner and Reagan Roberts run wild. Tanner scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Roberts scored five runs while going 2-for-4. Those four hits gave Tanner a new career-high. Carrington Scott was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Altha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win (which was Altha's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sneads, they dropped their record down to 2-11 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Altha will welcome Leon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 12.7 runs per game this season. As for Sneads, they will challenge Chiles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Timberwolves' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
