Independence is 1-9 against Africentric Early College since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Independence 76ers will head out on the road to face off against the Africentric Early College Nubians at 7:00 p.m. Independence comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 83-49, which was the final score in Independence's tilt against Briggs on Friday. Independence was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-24.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Ahmad Diagne, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Williams, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Africentric Early College's 23-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Trinity on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Africentric Early College has scored all season.
Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Africentric Early College, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Independence came up short against Africentric Early College in their previous meeting back in January, falling 56-50. Can Independence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
