After flying high against the O'Farrell Charter Falcons on Tuesday, the Valley Center Jaguars came back down to earth. Valley Center lost to La Jolla on the road by a decisive 76-60 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Valley Center can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 777th, while La Jolla is ranked 305th).
Despite the loss, Valley Center still got an impressive performance from Kevin Garcia, who scored 33 points. Garcia continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Zetmeir, who scored 10 points along with 7 assists.
Michael Contreras continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for La Jolla, scoring 30 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Contreras has scored at least 25% of La Jolla's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lance Braga, who scored 14 points.
Valley Center's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for La Jolla, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.
Valley Center will head out on the road to face off against Santana at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Santana is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for La Jolla, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Tri-City Christian at 7:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Tri-City Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 343 points over their last four games.
