The Webster Warriors suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 77-40 loss at the hands of Metro Christian. While losing is never fun, Webster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Metro Christian is ranked 95th).
Webster's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hondo Avington, who scored 18 points. Avington continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Amondre Davis, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Webster bumped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Metro Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webster on the road again on Thursday and play against Warner at 8:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Metro Christian, they will take on Cascia Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cascia Hall's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
