The Purvis Tornadoes will square off against the South Jones Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Purvis will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Bay on Saturday. Everything went Purvis' way against Bay as Purvis made off with a 13-2 win. The Tornadoes haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Cannon Turner made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Purvis let Hudson Walker and Jacob Parker loose on the outfield. Walker went a perfect3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Parker went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Walker has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was JoJo Parker, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Purvis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay only posted a batting average of .158.
Meanwhile, South Jones had just enough and edged Taylorsville out 7-6 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.
Micah Coutta led a balanced Braves bullpen and struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dylan Causey, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylan Dykes, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Purvis now has a winning record of 2-1. As for South Jones, their record now sits at 2-0.
Purvis beat South Jones 4-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Purvis since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
