Penns Manor's Danny Ferens rumbled for the longest rushing play in Heritage this season in his game against Purchase Line last week. Ferens ran for 72 yards on the play and finished with 127 on the day as his team beat the Red Dragons.
Penns Manor extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Purchase Line, 48-0. The victory was the seventh in a row for Bill Packer's team.
Northern Cambria's dynamic duo of Jeff Hogan and Adam Polites proved tough for Saltsburg to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hogan threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Polites had 130 yards receiving. Derek Bearer helped Northern Cambria's passing attack out by catching two balls for 41 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Scott Thompson of Blairsville is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1281. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, the Comets' Ferens has rushed for 1312 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Polites. The Northern Cambria star has 17 catches for 472 yards.
Ligonier Valley's Ryan Torrance is a mere 83 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Torrance has rushed for 917 yards on 101 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Heritage this week will be when Penns Manor takes on Homer-Center. The Comets are currently in first, while the Wildcats are in fourth.
