The North Shelby Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a rough 73-53 defeat at the hands of Canton. While losing is never fun, North Shelby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while Canton is ranked 156th).
Canton was led to victory by Preston Brewer and Kaden Oliver. Brewer almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, while Oliver scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Oliver has scored all season. Chris Alspaw was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
North Shelby has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. As for Canton, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.
North Shelby will look to defend their home court on Friday against Knox County at 7:30 p.m. As for Canton, they will head out on the road to square off against Illini West at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Illini West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
