Cowanesque Valley hasn't had much luck against Sayre recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Indians will host the Sabres at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cowanesque Valley has seven straight victories, Sayre has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, Cowanesque Valley got the win against Williamson by a conclusive 13-1. Considering the Indians have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Hunter Simonds looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Brody Bruce was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Cowanesque Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Williamson only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, Sayre didn't have quite enough to beat Williamson on Tuesday and fell 3-2.
Karter Green was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Jamier Kole was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Shaine Strickland was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base.
Cowanesque Valley's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Sayre, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.
Sayre's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cowanesque Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. It's a different story for Sayre, though, as they've only averaged .313. Will they be able to contain Cowanesque Valley's hitters?
Everything went Cowanesque Valley's way against Sayre when the teams last played back in April, as Cowanesque Valley made off with a 16-2 win. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Sabres have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
