After a string of four wins, the Memorial Roughriders's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. Their2023 ended with a 39-24 defeat against Miami East. While losing is never fun, Memorial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Miami East is ranked 15th).
Miami East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Logan Phillips led the charge by scoring 14 points along with four steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Mckayah Musselman, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Miami East, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
