Basketball Recap: Jason Bates Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pike County

Rock Springs Christian Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 65-57 victory over the Pike County Pirates. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 67-66 last Monday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rock Springs Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jason Bates, who posted 20 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. That's the most assists Bates has posted since back in February of 2024. Jase Nichols was another key player, putting up 15 points and four steals.

Bates wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Rock Springs Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pike County only posted five assists.

Despite the loss, Pike County still got an impressive performance from Yadi Rosado, who scored 23 points and eight rebounds. Rosado is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Sammons, who earned ten points.

Rock Springs Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Pike County, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Rock Springs Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. Mary's Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rock Springs Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. As for Pike County, they and Rutland will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Pike County is facing Rutland at the right time seeing as Rutland is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
