Basketball Recap: Kirby Ransom Key Part of a Team Effort in Red Rams Win

There's no place like home for Franklinton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Louisburg Warriors by a score of 65-58 on Friday. Given the Red Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Warriors are ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklinton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kirby Ransom, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymir Lipscomb, who posted 15 points.

Franklinton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Jaylen Alexander and Jack Davis certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Alexander went 7 of 14 on his way to 20 points along with five assists and five boards, while Davis went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Alexander a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Sheldon, who had seven points and eight rebounds.

Franklinton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Louisburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Franklinton and Roanoke Rapids will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roanoke Rapids will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Franklinton surely won't give up without a fight. Louisburg will take on Warren County in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
