After a string of five wins, the Crow Creek Chieftains's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 56-49 to Lower Brule. Crow Creek has struggled against the Sioux recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Lower Brule's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quentin McBride Jr led the charge by scoring 22 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Gray, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Crow Creek's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8. As for Lower Brule, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crow Creek will take on the Thorpes at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pine Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully the Chieftains likes a good challenge. As for Lower Brule, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Spartans at 8:00 p.m. Wessington Springs will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
