Baseball Recap: Fletcher Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Fletcher barely beat Hinton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Comets with a sharp 14-6 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 14 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Rayce Stoll, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Fletcher is undefeated when Stoll posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Canyon Hardzog, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fletcher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.

Fletcher has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Hinton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.

Fletcher has already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Hollis on the 21st. As for Hinton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Dibble on the 21st.
