The Holy Name Green Wave will head out on the road to square off against the Magnificat Blue Streaks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Holy Name had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Padua Franciscan on Friday. The Green Wave blew past the Bruins 11-5. Considering the Green Wave have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Reagan Vavro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Vavro was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maura Mihalik, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Anna Soos, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Magnificat came out on top against Lutheran West on Friday by a score of 16-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Considering the Blue Streaks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Haley Wheeler was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Clare Wopershall was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Magnificat always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lutheran West only posted an OBP of .118.
Holy Name is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Magnificat, their record is now 7-12.
Magnificat's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Holy Name has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Magnificat, though, as they've been averaging only 2.9 strikeouts. Will Holy Name keep running through batters, or will the Blue Streaks buck the trend?
