The Perry County Central Commodores will head out to face off against the Knott County Central Patriots at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Perry County Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
Six must be Perry County Central's lucky number: they beat Leslie County with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Commodores beat the Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Commodores have posted against the Eagles since March 27, 2019.
Tate Watts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Perry County Central is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 12-15 otherwise. Watts was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin Gayhart, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Perry County Central: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 9-15 otherwise. Mason Sumner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
Knott County Central came out on top against Harlan on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Patriots put the hurt on the Green Dragons with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Connor Napier was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Amburgey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Knott County Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Perry County Central, they pushed their record up to 14-16 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Perry County Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Knott County Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Perry County Central might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Knott County Central in their previous matchup on Saturday. Can the Commodores avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
