The Arnold Marlins lost against the Marianna Bulldogs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Arnold took a hard 53-39 fall against Marianna. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Arnold came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Marianna is ranked 517th).
Despite the loss, Arnold still got an impressive performance from Ashley Steen, who scored 17 points. Steen scored a full 43.6% of Arnold's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jaylee Tolbert-Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Arnold and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Marianna, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arnold will challenge South Walton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marianna will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Crossroad Academy at 4:00 p.m. on December 8th.
