The Woodland Regional Hawks will be playing at home against the Derby Red Raiders on Tuesday. Woodland Regional knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully the Red Raiders like a good challenge.
Woodland Regional pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 113-59 defeat at the hands of Crosby. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woodland Regional in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost seven in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from James Scampolino, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Brunetti, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Derby pushed their score all the way to 63 last Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between them and Waterbury Career Academy wasn't particularly close, with Derby falling 80-63. While losing is never fun, Derby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Spartans are ranked 33rd).
Woodland Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Derby, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Woodland Regional came up short against the Red Raiders when the teams last played back in January, falling 59-55. Will Woodland Regional have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
