Softball Recap: Caledonia Has No Trouble Against Rushford-Peterson

After only one run in their last contest, Caledonia made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rushford-Peterson on Thursday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 10-1 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.

Avery Augedahl made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Paizley Lange and Brairy Proulx did most of the damage at the plate: Lange went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Proulx went a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Lange a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Elsa Blum, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Caledonia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rushford-Peterson only posted an OBP of .192.

Caledonia's record now sits at 15-4. As for Rushford-Peterson, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Caledonia will welcome Zumbrota-Mazeppa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rushford-Peterson, they are taking a road trip to square off against Mabel-Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
