The St. Patrick Fighting Irish will venture away from home to square off against the George County Rebels at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Patrick's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Tylertown as they made off with an 18-0 win. With that victory, the Fighting Irish brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Gunner Eure made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because St. Patrick is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise. Eure was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Cameron Messer was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bennett Rimes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
St. Patrick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, George County got the win against Terry on Friday by a conclusive 12-1. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
George County gave Bradyn Havard the start and clearly made the right call: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Havard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Grant Reeves, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Cooper Ward was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
George County's record now sits at 18-8. As for St. Patrick, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Patrick has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like George County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Patrick beat George County 8-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fighting Irish since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
