While Cumberland's win against Nokomis wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates pulled ahead with a 15-14 photo finish over the Redskins on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Nokomis' loss came despite strong showings from Nolan Herpstreith and Kadynn Petty. Herpstreith rushed for 77 yards and a pair of TDs, while Petty rushed for 73 yards on only eight carries.
Cumberland's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Nokomis, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.
